Vancouver's Chinatown — the largest in Canada — began in the early 1880s when Chinese settlers gathered at the end of Carrall Street, and it grew into the country's leading Chinatown by the early 1900s. It was designated a National Historic Site in 2010, and remains rich with heritage society buildings, ornate gates, and the tranquil Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden.
