A little Hastings-Sunrise history
This area has deep roots: the Hastings Townsite actually predated the City of Vancouver as a shipping and recreation hub, and the neighbourhood is named for Rear Admiral George Fowler Hastings. Hastings Park has hosted the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) every year since 1910 — these days each late August into early September. Down at the water, New Brighton Park marks the site of the original Hastings resort, and the Momiji Garden stands as a memorial to Japanese-Canadian internment.
